Food is worth its weight in gold. We don't always realize it because we may take it for granted here, but that's not the case. Might as well take good care of it!
I don't know about you, but I'm literally allergic to food waste at home! It becomes a challenge when we don't have regular access to fresh food or during the winter months when we don't have access to such fresh vegetables!
We saw in a previous article that the figures for food waste are staggering, and in another article we mentioned a few tips and tricks for avoiding this waste.
Here, we'd like to take a closer look at the Fresco, a vegetable storage bag we've created ourselves that has changed the way we manage our vegetables.
A vegetable storage bag created entirely in-house
I'm very proud to say that I created this bag with the local economy in mind. Apart from the fact that we don't have any raw materials for the textiles here, everything else is made here. Even the organic cotton fabric and labels!
Why does the conservation bag work?
When you pick or buy a vegetable, it continues its life. As it lives, it continues to breathe and exchange moisture with the environment.
As the bag is wetted, the humidity and composition of the bag create a fresh environment for the plants to breathe. Unlike plastic bags and containers, this 100% natural fiber vegetable storage bag eliminates ethylene, the gas responsible for rotting, and controls humidity.
Which vegetables does it work with?

The variety is huge! Lettuce, even cut up, will be crunchy for up to two weeks! Carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, kale and many more! The only vegetable that doesn't work, and it's a great capricious one, is coriander!
The Fresco vegetable storage bag is very easy to use and highly effective. The only thing to remember is to keep it moist at all times!
Here's how to use it:
1. Vegetables are washed

2. Let them drain

3. You can cut them or not

4. We wet the bag and twist it

5. We put the vegetables inside

6. Pop in the fridge
IMPORTANT: After a few days, your bag will slowly dry out. It's important to moisten it again. To do this, open the bag, put some water in it with the vegetables and stir it so that the water goes onto the fabric of the bag, and you're done.

We're proud of and love the Fresco! Not only does this vegetable storage bag make it easier to manage our precious vegetables, but it also allows us to prepare them ahead of time, ready to eat! It saves us time and money, so we can spend more quality time with ours!
Ecologically yours,
